George and I headed up to the Observatory Hill section of Perry North. George, with his new helmet, enjoyed the hills we navigated.
We found ourselves on Semicir Street which was recently on the news for a landslide. With the Observatory in the background, we marveled at how an entire house could slide off its foundation into the valley below.
Further down Semicir we said hi to a neighbor and then noticed a group of deer in his backyard. I said: “Wow! George, there are five deer down there. Look!” The man said: “Is that all? Usually there are ten or eleven.”
Later I noticed a sign on the border of Riverview Park that said “NO HUNTING.” No wonder there were so many deer.
We crossed Perrysville Avenue (carefully) to hit a few more streets before getting a sweet treat. George was preoccupied with smashing piles of snow but stopped long enough to strike a pose.
A steep street couldn’t stop George. He always says he has “100 energy” so I asked him if he still did. “I do, but the wind takes away my energy.”
We paused at the top of Bonvue to wonder what these things are. There was also another set across the street. If anyone knows, leave a comment! Edit: I found out from my friend Megan that they are for growing hops. YUM!
Finally we got back on Perrysville to visit our destination, Schorr Family Bakery.
We got seven cookies and a loaf of bread to take home. This is all that made it home:
