My name is Meghan and I love 311, History, Books, Sleepwalking, and every thing Stephen King.

71: Too many neighborhoods to count or the one where I start naming blog posts

I only had two things on my to do list for today’s walk: take the Monongahela Incline (from or to my car) and walk on Schaeffer Way.

70: Carrick

PR Walk! Today, I set a new personal record for the most unique streets walked in one day: 95 Streets! I had no idea how large Carrick is. I only repeated two streets and covered almost 9 miles!

69: Spring Garden, Spring Hill-City View & East Allegheny

Unique Streets: 21 Miles Walked: 4.32 Street Names (italicized have been walked on another day): Spring Garden Avenue, Arcola Way, Seidle Street, Itin Street, Diana Place, Ives Way, Iona Street,…

68: Beechview & Mount Washington

Unique Streets: 54
Miles Walked: 9.04
Today Amy and I had the task of walking one orphaned street in Mt. Washington. On Monday, I somehow completely missed Griffin Street and it was really bugging me.

67: Troy Hill, Spring Garden, Northview Heights, Spring Hill-City View, and East Allegheny

Unique Streets: 65
Miles Walked: 8.11
Today’s walk was inspired by George. In the morning on the way to school, I asked the boys where they thought I should walk. George yelled “Turtle Street!”

67: Upper Hill, North Oakland, Terrace Village, Middle Hill & Bedford Dwellings

Unique Streets: 48
Miles Walked: 7
Today I attempted to tackle a huge portion of my map that has been blank. I had walked all around this area but completely missed the Upper Hill and portions of other neighborhoods.

66: Duquesne Heights, Beechview & Mt. Washington

Today’s walk was filled with surprises (good, bad, and weird.) I started out by parking off of Saw Mill Run Boulevard on Woodruff Street. I noticed from the map that the Beechview Seldom Seen Greenway was nearby and I’d been wanting to explore it for a while now.

65: South Shore, The Bluff, Crawford-Roberts, SS Flats

The Bluff is an area of Pittsburgh I’ve been looking forward to exploring since I started this project. The Bluff aka Uptown has been known by many other names over the years: Soho, Boyd’s Hill, Ayer’s Hill.

64: Morningside, Stanton Heights & Highland Park

Today Amy and I walked in Morningside, Stanton Heights, and Highland Park. There were a lot of repeat streets but plenty of new ones.

63: West End & Elliott

Today I decided to walk in West End. I often drive through the area to avoid tunnel traffic on my way to walks and today was the day when I would tackle it.
